LA Galaxy Bakersfield Goes Back to It’s Roots as Roadrunner United FC (AKA – Runners FC)
It has been known for some time now LA Galaxy Bakersfield was going to shed their name and affiliation with the MLS club from Carson. The club’s new name, logo, and identity was revealed via internet and social media.
Beginning July 1, 2020, the club’s teams will all be playing in the new gold and royal blue kits under the born-again name ROADRUNNER UNITED FC.
Club President, Bert Perkins said, “Players will be outfitted in their new uniforms by September 2020. We have partnered with Adidas and Soccergarage.com, I know they’ll do a great job getting our players all looking sharp.”
The club’s 350+ players will continue to play in the same fall leagues, such as Coast Soccer League and locally in the Golden Valley Soccer League. The top Runners FC teams will play in NPL, CRL, National Cup, as well as top College Showcases around the nation.
“Runners FC represents the core of who we are as a club and we are excited to share the new brand with our soccer families, “said Runners FC Girls Director of Coaching Russ Miller. “Our vision is to be more than just a soccer club. We are focused on improving the culture of youth soccer in Kern County as well as Southern California by working to develop better players, not only in skill, but also in character.”
“Even though we will no longer wear the LA Galaxy badge, will continue our relationships with the MLS, U.S. Soccer YNT ID Center, and Cal South Pro+ ODP to help players who have excelled in our program take advantage of these additional avenues to showcase their talents,” said Boys Director of Coaching Francisco Gomez. “In these times, our club has to be more than just about soccer. It is also about social responsibility and life lessons.”
